Timing is everything, and the recent release of Jables’ debut EP ‘Assemble!’ came right on time.  JP Maywald aka Jables will be joining Big Gigantic, Break Science, Sonkin, Euphonic Conceptions and the F5F Crew this Sunday for the Official STS9 Afterparty at Club24 in Washington DC.

This up and coming hip hop phenom is from Nashville, TN but currently hails our of Asheville, NC.  We were lucky enough to book Jables for his first MD/DC/VA appearance last fall with Two Fresh and couldn’t be more excited to have him back in town.  Not to mention we are pumped to see what new tricks he has up his sleeve.

We caught up with JP Maywald last night here’s what he had to say…

“Assemble! is a collection of seven relatively unrelated tracks which people, including myself, thought were simply too fly to sit and collect dust. They range from the time I began my musical endeavor to the present. Throughout these years, my style has evolved and had time to develop much further- which makes listening to this EP that much more interesting (older tracks, for example, include “Aesthetics” and “Horizontal”, while newer tracks include “Elastic Waistband” and “Inspector Gadget”). Beginning with software and midi controllers at fifteen, I hugged the metronome and created what I felt were rigid and overly automated compositions (but dope nonetheless). Moved out to external synths and vinyl, and sometimes doing away with the metronome all together. There is something much more engaging about working with your own internal rhythm rather than having it visually displayed on a screen. It’s originality at it’s purest form. My current weapon of choice being the SP 404-SX, I have been forced to step out of my comfort zone/Ableton and dig deeper.

Within the past year, and with the unconditional help of the crew, my sound has been brought to audiences and my name as a live performing artist has been made. The schedule for the next two months is fairly busy. I’ve got dates with Two Fresh, Devonwho, Dibiase aka Diabolical, Bookworm, Bonobo, and many others. First and perhaps most important though, STS9 after party- Re:Creation w/ Big Gigantic in D.C.! Big things.”
