Here at F5F we are always amped to see our friends changing the world. Dale Ihnken has been an extended family member to F5F since day one. He has participated in everything from live painting to event planing and has helped fill all the spaces in between. If you were lucky enough to make an appearance at either The Electronic Snowball or PHOBIA you undoubtedly saw Dale in his element…on stage, deep in thought, peeling layers upon layers creating yet another face melting master piece.
Dale is truly an inovator of psychedelic art and this can not only be seen in his physical painting but even more so in his freakish productions. A prime example would be the Alex Grey Winter Solstice, an event filled with music, art & mayhem. Dale & IhnkenInk have teamed up with Weapons Of Mass Production to form quite the dynamic duo.
It gives me great pleasure to announce IhnkenInk & WOMP will be hosting the first annual Spring Freakquinox this Friday (March 20th) at Sonar downtown Baltimore. The New Deal is headlining the event and I couldn’t be more excited. This electro threesome has been steadily climbing the jamtronica hierarchy for about a decade now. Their ‘high energy’ ‘club thumping’ ‘gotta get up to get down’ vibe has resonated coast to coast and over seas. From city to city and festival to festival, New Deal has achieved a wonderful reputation and an even better cultish following. They’ve had their internal ups and downs over the past couple yrs leading to side projects such as The Join, but are now back on track and touring as the original trifecta.
It feels like ages since the New Deal has graced the Baltimore scene but that all changes this weekend. And if Jamie Shields isn’t enough to rev your engine, Telepath and Twisted Records co-founder OTT are on the bill as well. This evening boasts of great music, quality spirits and all the freakEness your heart desires. Doors are at 8pm and music goes till 2am…clear your schedule and dust off your dancing shoes.
See you there!
